To Ski or Not to Ski...

That was the question. Bedecked with a boy's neon green helmet, snow pants that were 2 sizes to big and a pair of rented skis, I made my first attempt at skiing in 6 years. Just a hop, a skip, and a drive, and I was on the slopes. But, of course, I first had to laboriously haul my skis over my shoulder and arduously stomp what seemed to be 40 miles across the miniscule parking lot and all the while try not to maliciously whop any of my dear siblings on the noggin.

Once at the lodge, like a dog getting its rabies tags, I was licensed with a lift ticket and was told that I was now qualified to ride on a motorized chair that was connected to a 100 ft. zip line. Riding this flying chair was only the beginning.Somehow I had to get off! Praying for mercy, I arrived at the crest. At that moment, a miracle happened. I gathered my poles and lifted my skis and executed a triumphal dismount! One hurdle crossed, I faced the next. Pigeon toeing the entire way, I successfully crossed the finish line with only a few meager falls. Like an Olympic Champion, I was victorious!

How to Eat Kale With a Smile

With an Andi Score (you know the upside down pyramid that's all the rage at Whole Foods) of 1000, kale is the second best veggie in the grocery store; but, who likes kale? My mom tried to sneak it in my fruit smoothie. That did not work. There is something about having green floaties in your strawberry smoothie that just is not appetizing. You don't want to miss out on all that nutritional value. So, what do you do? Do you boil it? Do you eat it raw? No, you bake it and here's how.

Kale Chips
Break the kale into small pieces. Pour a bit of olive oil onto your kale. Add a dash of salt and bake at 350 degrees for 10 - 15 minutes. It looks scary, but trust me it tastes better than popcorn!

Enjoy!!!

Ode To Mirth

Mirth, Merriment and Amusement.  These are three gifts my family has received from an Englishman we have never met.  These gifts have not been delivered by a brown truck, nor by a man in a red suit. Rather, they have  been delivered via words on a page. I can tell when my mom needs a good dose of this man's literature. Like a magician with his rabbit, the mirth vanishes when my mom fails to supplement her reading with this man's books. You may ask, "Who has such power?" It is none other than the fabulous author P.G. Wodehouse. Read his books and experience the mirth.
